geniusbee: God that’s a bit of pretty I really hope Mycroft gets portrayed better in series 3. In the books, Mycroft is smarter than Holmes — just very, very lazy. In series 2 he’s a completely bumbling moron. Did he really think he could tell Moriarty his brother’s complete story and there wouldn’t be any problems? Why didn’t he intervene, at all, if he’s portrayed as so goddamn powerful? The writing was inconsistent. He’s the cool and collected British government in one scene, and an idiotic politician in the next. Mycroft and his brother have problems (who doesn’t?) but he’s willing to just hang him out to dry? The only thing he does is give John vague advice? Come on, Mycroft. Remember Mrs. Hudson’s advice next time. You’re damn lucky there’s a next time.
